So maybe we may see a spin off? Only time will tell. During his talk however he brought up the point that there is several other interesting characters in the Hancock universe. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the film but it went on to a rather nice box office return regardless. I unfortunately never got a chance to see the first film. His response was that we will definitely be seeing a Hancock 2 in a few years. During his time with them they posed the question if he would ever be interested in playing another superhero. The guys over at JoBlo spoke with Will Smith while he was doing his rounds promotion Seven Pounds. Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), believes Hancock cannot be fixed, and she doesn’t want Ray to be hurt. Ray owes Hancock his life, and he makes it his mission to change his superhero’s image and have the public cheering him. Ray is a public relations executive who now can go home to his wife and child, because Hancock was there. Then one day, Hancock saves the life of Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) from being run over by a train. The public has had enough of Hancock, and they want him to stop or go to another city. The last time he captured several criminals, it cost the city $9 million to fix the damages. He has saved many lives in Los Angeles over the years, but in doing so, he has no regards for damaging buildings, trains, roads, cars, or anything that gets in his way of getting the job done. For some unknown reason, Hancock is depressed and has started drinking very heavily. The powerful alcoholic and clumsy John Hancock (Will Smith) is an unhappy and reluctant superhero who is living in his own world.
Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary, insists that he’s a lost cause. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey, and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock.
